nGenx Announces Partnership With Consciat, a Startup Focusing on the SMB Market

January 9th, 2014 by THN News No comments »

(The Hosting News) - nGenx, a leading cloud services provider of hosted applications and desktops, announces it has signedConsciat as a white label partner for its cloud-based Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solutions. This partnership is key to Consciat’s plans to market a set of IT and telecom solutions that includes nGenx’s DaaS cloud product.

Today, many small companies struggle to keep their IT on par with how technology can support the business. As career IT veterans, the Consciat team works to go beyond filling this gap by helping its customers deploy technology as a strategic advantage for growth and profitability. “Even now, most small and medium business decision makers invest in information technology in a reactive mode. Yet, more and more, even the smallest businesses are recognizing how technologies such as the cloud can both increase their efficiency and make the company’s operations more effective,” explains Dario Loriato, president of Consciat.

Consciat chose the nGenx solution after a thorough review of the industry. “nGenx came highly recommended by Citrix,” said Dario Loriato. “Additionally, we investigated a handful of DaaS providers, but all of them failed in one of our requirements. Since our first meetings, nGenx has been easy to do business with, and we have found their solutions fast, replicable and include well defined processes for white label partners. Additionally, nGenx’s team is knowledgeable, professional, and they are great people. All of these are key to any long-term relationship.”

“nGenx has the proven platform – refined over 13+ years of development – that makes it cost effective for companies to move into the cloud and easy for our white label partners to provide the service,” says Dave Gibson, president of nGenx. “We are very excited to be working with the Consciat team. With the team’s deep knowledge of both channels and technology, we believe they will be ver...

Security Researchers Boycott RSA’s Conference Due to “Secret Contract” With the NSA

January 8th, 2014 by THN News No comments »

(The Hosting News) – A number of security researchers have boycotted RSA’s Conference in protest against a “secret contract” with the NSA, reports The Register.

Last month, the NSA reportedly paid $10 million to the security firm to secretly install bugs into the company’s encryption software creating a flawed formula used for generating random numbers to create a “back door” to security products.

Mikko Hyppönen, chief research officer at F-Secure, was the first to cancel his presentation at the 2014 RSA Conference in Febuary due to the RSA using random number generator “ despite widespread speculation that NSA had backdoored it.”

Following his cancelation, several others taking part in the conference canceled their participation, including Jeffrey Carr, founder and chief exec of Taia Global; Josh Thomas of Atredis Partners; Chris Palmer, a software security engineer at Google; Adam Langley, a cryptographer for Google; Chris Soghoian, principal technologist with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy and Technology Project; Alex Fowler, global privacy and public policy leader for Mozilla; and Marcia Hofmann, a digital rights lawyer with the ‪EFF.

“RSA cannot escape responsibility for offering a compromised BSAFE product for the last nine years by saying ‘we just followed NIST’ and ‘our customers had a choice. This is a gross violation of its own mission statement not to mention its own illustrious history of defending the integrity of encryption against government attempts to weaken it,” states Jeffrey Carr, founder of Taia Global.

There are currently 408 speakers set to attend the event.

1&1 Web Hosting Takes Security And Performance To A New Level

January 8th, 2014 by THN News No comments »

(The Hosting News) – 1&1 Internet, Ltd., www.1and1.co.uk, a global leader among Web hosting providers, today introduced a number of enhancements to web hosting packages that improve performance and security for website owners.  1&1’s CDN now offers improved loading times for both images and previously non-cacheable content.  As well as adding support for the latest version PHP5.5, 1&1 now offers trial installations of Click & Build Apps.  Additionally, 1&1 SiteLock is now included within selected packages enabling website owners to monitor online security levels.

1&1 Web hosting is continually optimised for those who rely heavily on website applications for website design and development. 1&1 packages already include the most popular Click & Build applications with two installation methods: Safe Mode and Free Mode, which allows for more coding freedom. From today, all 1&1 Click & Build applications will have an evaluation option for users to explore the App in either mode before deciding which one to implement.  Offering the same functionality and pre-installed plug-ins as the full install, the evaluation period will last for 30 days, during which the transfer from trial to full installation can be completed at any time.  All content generated during the evaluation period will be moved to the regular installation once activated by the user.

1&1 advises businesses that a website that loads slowly or has images displayed incorrectly can damage their online reputation.  To further safeguard against this, 1&1 has enriched its CDN, powered by CloudFlare, to provide targeted help.  Firstly, a new Mirage™ feature analyses a web user’s connection and screen size, (such as smartphone, desktop, tablet or laptop), to ensure that all images are being displayed effectively.

In addition, 1&1 now offers CloudFlare’s Railgun™ functionality, to greatly improve the conne...
